Hibiscus Food For Life (HFFL), run by Rajen Mahabeer of Port Shepstone, fed pupils of RA Engar School, hot, scrumptious meals, on Friday, last week.
Rajen told South Coast Weekly that hot meals provide a vital foundation for a child’s academic, physical, and emotional development, ensuring that no student has to face the school day on an empty stomach. When schools transition from basic snacks to complete, warm meals, the positive impact on the student body is immediate and far-reaching.
Rajen explained that HFFL provides nutritious meals to close to a thousand people in the Marburg, Port Shepstone, Palmview and Hibberdene areas.
“We are providing meals since 1990 and there is always a major demand for our cause to help so many of all ethnicity!” explained Rajen.
Rajen mentioned that free, hot school meals have a profoundly positive impact on students, who not only appreciate the food but also show immediate improvements in their overall classroom engagement.
He reiterated that without the public’s assistance, he cannot do what he does every day and appeals for donations to support his project! Rajen can be reached on 082 836 2758.
Principal of RA Engar, Jason Govender thanked Rajen immensely for his kind deed!
Pupils were all smiles, as they tucked into their delicious hot Biryani.
