Marburg resident Tarusha Gounder was recently spotted on television on a Netflix series, Blood Legacy.
The 28-year-old was seen on set with renowned actors such as Xolile Tshabalala, Buyile Mdladla, Thandeka Dawn King, and others.
Gounder explained that she got the opportunity to be part of Blood Legacy as a background cast member.
“It was an exciting opportunity to experience the world of television from behind the scenes and to actually be part of a Netflix production.
I didn’t know exactly what the experience would be like beforehand, so being able to step onto the set and see how everything comes together was something I really appreciated,” she said.
The former Marsec learner said she has always had a love for being in front of people and expressing herself.
She explained that her interest in acting grew through the opportunities that allowed her to step outside of her comfort zone.
Gounder is the Marketing and Promotions Manager at Shelly Centre and also a model.
“I have always enjoyed performing, pageantry, being creative and telling stories. Being on set was honestly such an incredible experience. There is so much that happens behind the scenes that viewers never get to see. It was exciting, but also a real learning experience for me,” she said.
Se added that as a background cast member, you never know whether you will actually be clearly visible in the final edit.
“Sometimes background cast members are blurred out or barely noticeable. So, when I watched the episode and realised that the camera had actually focused on me and that I was clearly visible, I was absolutely thrilled. It was only a short moment, but seeing myself on Netflix was such a surreal and exciting feeling. It was one of those “Mama, I made it onto TV!” moments that I’ll definitely never forget,” she said.
